Diabetes Fiji Incorporated strives to achieve a healthier environment and education for people with or at risk with diabetes. Before they established themselves in 2012 there was the Diabetes Foundation 1987-2012.

Focused on combating the diabetes crisis facing Fiji, using the better hands concept – empowering people living with or at risk of diabetes to live healthier lifestyles.

Diabetes in better hands.

What are the long term aims and vision for Fiji?

That people living with or at risk of Diabetes are empowered to take ownership of their health and adapt a healthy lifestyle. That the health care providers are better equipped with knowledge, skills and equipment to provide better service with international management standards.

What are your barriers to growth?

  1. Low income- they have been response from corporates and donor agencies
  2. Lack of skilled staffs in areas such as marketing, graphic designs, monitoring and evaluation etc
  3. Difficulty finding donors, since most donor finds focus on women empowerment, climate change, entrepreneurship very little on NCDs
  4. Research – research on Diabetes management, complication rate etc.
