Essential Items

You will be able to buy some of these items in Fiji, but being prepared and bringing some from the start puts you in good stead for the entire trip. The items below will be sufficient for the entire month.

We Advise You Bring…

  • Bag – A suitcase is fine, but a large backpack or holdall is often easier to carry (especially for the rural areas)
  • Laterial Flow Test (Rapid Antigen Test) – So you can test for COVID before entering the village
  • Mosquito Repellent (1 x bottle per month in Fiji)
  • Mosquito Net (for the village)
  • Small backpack / daypack (for day-to-day use)
  • Single or double bed sheet or sleeping bag liner (great, light piece of kit, you’ll never know you need it until it’s too late!)
  • Towels x 2
  • Torch (or ideally a head torch) as it can be dark when you are in the village at night.
  • Padlock
  • Watch or Alarm Clock
  • Good Water Bottle (we do not encourage buying any single use plastic in Fiji)
  • Water purifiers (either tablets or filter bottles work well)
  • Notebook and Pen
  • Printed paper copy of your passport photo page, and flight itinerary
  • Sun Cream (high factor)
  • Face Masks  – may be required for your flights (subject to current rules) and in all crowded and enclosed areas in Fiji (but not day-to-day on the project)
  • Wash bag and personal care:
    • Shower gel & soap
    • Deodorant
    • Toothbrush & toothpaste
    • Razors
