Departing from the Village
Leaving the community is a sad occasion and you can expect the families and volunteers to be feeling emotional! But before the morning of departure:
On the final night in the village (or most suitable night), a tautau will be conducted. This is where you will present the leaving gifts on behalf of Think Pacific to the community in ceremony format, an official ‘leaving’ event.
- Make sure to call the transport the afternoon before departure to clarify timings, location and destination.
- Communicate closely with the TNK to organise the tautau, some villages may have preference for when and how this will be conducted.
- In the final team meeting, make sure to clarify timings of the time of departure to ensure the smooth running of the day itself.
